We visited the south of Gran Canaria, and after a short visit in Maspalomas we continued through Puerto Rico and then ended up in the picturesque marina of Port de Mogán. It is often called "Little Venice" due to its charming canals and bridges, reminiscent of the Italian city. The marina is known for its vibrant flowers, creating a picturesque setting. Additionally, Port de Mogán hosts a lively market every Friday, offering a variety of local crafts and products. The marina is a popular destination for boaters, and its colorful buildings add to the overall allure of this coastal gem in the Canary Islands.

We parked our motorcycle next to the beach and started by taking a stroll behind the beach to check out a few stores and restaurants. It was a busy day with many people sunbathing and swimming and the air temperature was around 23+ degrees Celsius.

There are a few shops in this area mainly aiming at tourists and the prices are quite high. We paid a visit to a clothing store with some of our favorite brands but since we are not here for shopping we decided to continue our stroll and walk to the marina and check out the little village.

We read that Port de Mogán has sunshine almost every day of the year and an average degree of 21 degrees Celsius. We love it! The coastal village is very beautiful with flowers decorating the white buildings with colored doors. We believe it has a touristic touch - but of course it is visited for a reason. It was relaxing to walk around and take photos and just take in the special atmosphere; everything from people enjoying a meal at a terrace to the beautiful flowers or the colorful fish in the clear water plus all the different boats at the harbor. We believe this place would not be a bad place to stay in the south of Gran Canaria, but it is also a bit more upscale and pricey than other places in the south.

We saw a perfect spot to have some late lunch (for us Northern Europeans 2 pm is quite late for lunch but normal here in the south). There are quite a few restaurants with good reviews and we chose a table at La Bodeguilla & Grill at the back of the restaurant where there were only 2 tables. We ordered some local dishes and they had translated menue in Swedish, Dutch, German, French and English among others! Here you can try different local dishes and a wide variety of drinks to your liking. Alcohol free beer was our choice of drinks plus some tasty garlic gamba’s and the traditional small potatoes with mojo sauce!

We would love to come back here to explore the Friday’s market that is known to be one of the most popular on the island. We will not be able to explore it this time but - if you have more information about the market or other interesting things about Mogán, please let us know!
